General Information

BIM Submission

Archicad is accepted by BCA to create and submit materials even in their native format (Native BIM Submission). Find the latest template and the user guide at the CORENET website.

Note: Though traditional submissions are still accepted by BCA, the Native Submission is recommended and supported since October 2016.

Besides traditional submission formats, the native Archicad file format (PLN or PLA) is accepted without the need to create additional 2D or 3D files. Since the BIM model is being checked in its original authoring environment in 3D there is no need to include such amount of manual 2D information and annotations as for traditional submissions earlier. All required information is part of the BIM model which eventually simplifies and shortens the submission process on both the users’ and officers’ end.

GRAPHISOFT Singapore has developed a submission template that has all the required presets, the user only has to define the property values of the elements (fire rating, mode of ventilation, accessibility, etc.) and the representation will change accordingly.

Although it is always good to have a developed BIM model, certain parts may still be using 2D elements (lines, fills, etc.), but these need additional remarks for the checking officers.

Should you want to know more or participate in a training specifically on Native BIM Submission with Archicad just contact us directly for details on a course.

Licensing

Archicad can be used as a viewer without a license in DEMO mode (only Save and Copy functions disabled) or you can opt for a fully-functional 30-day TRIAL version from MyArchicad.com after registration.

The files created with the TRIAL version can be converted to COMMERCIAL versions upon purchasing a license.

The new version of Archicad INT is released in Q2 and delivery of documentation sets starts shortly after. To run the new version you have to upgrade your license key using the License Manager Tool and install the new version either from the disc delivered or by downloading the installer from the GRAPHISOFT website.

Teamwork (BIM Server), Energy Evaluation (EcoDesigner) and BIMx do not require additional licenses, but MEP Modeler, BIMcloud, EcoDesigner STAR and BIMx PRO do.

The add-on suite (‘Goodies’) available on the GRAPHISOFT website is free of charge, third-party add-ons may involve additional costs. Find a list of the most popular Archicad add-ons here.
